Okay guys, it’s finally a new year but we have at least 2 months of winter left. I’m not a big fan of the cold, unless I’m in the slopes with my snowboard which I’m currently not. So every year I try to find new things to keep warm and add some cozy feelings to my life. It’s usually scented candles, warm wool sweaters or good food, but I learned to make a kakao drink from my friend Alice this year, that took the recipe with her from Berlin. Here we go:

1 dl water
1 dl Oatly/milk of your choice
4 tablespoons of cacao
1/2 tablespoon of turmeric
1/2 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
1/2 tablespoon of chili
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of honey/sweetener of your choice
Mix it all in a saucepan and heat it on the stove until it’s warm like a perfect cup of coffee or tea. Done!

Turmeric has a cleansing effect in the body, the chili and cayenne pepper helps the metabolism and blood circulation, cacao contains phenylethylamine, the same substance that makes us feel in love or happy. Can you imagine how great this drink is?! I usually add some extra chili to keep my body warm from the inside. I’m one of those who always complains that ”I’m so cold”, and chili actually helps a little. Kakao also contains substances similar to caffeine, so I’d recommend you to drink it during the day/in the morning, otherwise you’ll probably stay awake the whole night.
